Lot 73. Richard Rodgers and Mary Martin. Rodgers. (1902-1979). Pulitzer prize-winning American composer of such classics as Oklahoma, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music. Martin. (1913-1990). American musical stage star. Amongst the roles originally created by her were those of Nellie Forbush in *South Pacific and Maria in The Sound of Music. Martin received the Donaldson Award and the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award in 1943 for One Touch of Venus and a special Tony Award in 1947 for *Annie Get Your Gun. In 1954, she received an Emmy and a Tony for Peter Pan and a Tony in 1959 for The Sound of Music.

Original and complete 5.5x8 1972 playbill for A Celebration of Richard Rogers signed in black felt pen on front cover by Rodgers and signed and inscribed by Mary Martin.
