Lot 59. Desmond Tutu. (Born 1931). South African cleric and activist who rose to worldwide fame through his opposition to apartheid. He was the first black Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa. A leader in the antiapartheid struggle, he became a prominent advocate of international economic sanctions against South Africa. He won the 1984 Nobel Peace Prize.
