Lot 31. Charles Manson. (Born 1934). California mass murderer and cult figure, convicted in the Sharon Tate murder case.

Facsimile of signed poem entitled In the Poet’s Eye, with real ballpoint pen signature below and slightly overlapping facsimile signature. The closing lines describe his time as a juvenile delinquent: "Like ping-pong paddles in Juvenile Hall all the times I had to stand against the wall Lost child fighting through confusion to return to play meek and mild humble soul ravage ten tigers in the poet’s eye."

Provenance; About 20 years ago I purchased signed copies of Manson’s poems. The ex-con who sold them to me said the manuscript was for a book that never got published. I sold all of the copies years ago except this and one other poem, which I recently found in my archives. Light surface creasing.
