Lot 117. Will and Ariel Durant. Will. (1885-1981). American teacher, historian and author. Along with his wife Ariel (1898-1981), he wrote The Story of Civilization, and Rousseau and Revolution for which they won the Pulitzer prize in 1968. The Durants also shared a love story as remarkable as their scholarship; they detail this in a Dual Autobiography. They died within two weeks of each other in 1981.
