Lot 109. Jimmy Carter. (Born 1924). Thirty-ninth president. Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Prior to becoming president, Carter served two terms in the Georgia Senate, and was the 76th Governor of Georgia from 1971 to 1975. Because he had served as a submariner (the only President to have done so), a submarine was named for him in 1998, making *USS Jimmy Carter one of the very few U. S. Navy vessels to be named for a person still alive at the time of the naming. After the publication of his *Palestine Peace Not Apartheid (2007), some have accused him of anti-Israeli bias and of making significant factual errors, omissions and misstatements in the book.

Signed book: The Hornet’s Nest: A Novel of the Revolutionary War. By Jimmy Carter. 6.5x9.5, hard cover, jacket with $27 price intact. New York: Simon & Schuster, (2003). 465 pages. First edition. Signed "J Carter" in black ink on title page.

An ambitious work of historical fiction that brings to life the Revolutionary War as it was fought in the Deep South. A book rarely seen signed. In very good condition.
